The 51st board of Wiskundig Studiegenootschap Abacus has the pleasure to announce the candidate board for the 52nd board. We expect them to be constituted as follows on the 3rd of September:

Master Applied Mathematics remains a Top rated programme Thursday 7 March 2019 16:45
After the Bachelor programme has been recognised as a Top rated programme in de Dutch 'Keuzegids Universiteiten' back in November, yesterday it has been revealed that - for the second year in a row - the Master programme Applied Mathematics, with a score of 78 of 100, is also a Top rated programme! Applied Mathematics is one of four master programmes of the UT which have been crowned a Top rated programme this year, and the UT is in second place (of thirteen) in the 'Keuzegids Masters' ranking of Dutch universities. This makes Applied Mathematics the only programme of the UT of which both the Bachelor and the Master are a Top rated programme this year.
Jasper de Jong wins the AMEP 2019! Friday 15 February 2019 12:03
Yesterday, the Applied Mathematics Education Prize (AMEP) has been awarded and we can proudly announce that Jasper de Jong has won! With his presentation on how best to find your soulmate he narrowly won against Pranab Mandal and Gjerrit Meinsma, as the difference between the three nominees was only 5 votes. Jasper de Jong will also be invited to compete for the University of Twente Education Award (UTEA).

The time has come to give the TYAMD (Thank you active members drink) a new and better name. We have heard some great ideas already, but because we don't want to miss the best name ever, everyone can now submit his/her new name (with acronym) here.

Bachelor Applied Mathematics is a Top programme Friday 16 November 2018 12:30
Exactly in time for the open days, on the 15th of November it has been announced which Bachelor programmes received the status of Top programme in the Dutch 'Keuzegids Universiteiten 2019'. The amount of Bachelor programmes on the University of Twente receiving this status has doubled this year from 4 to 8. Applied Mathematics is one of those newcomers!
Brigit Geveling receives Brinksma Innovation Grant Thursday 13 September 2018 16:35
On September 3rd, at the opening of the academic year, several prizes were awarded. One of the awards given is the Brinksma Innovation Grant, which was won by Brigit Geveling for her experimentation on team-based learning. Brigit's research group received a year's financial compensation so that her research design can be developed further. Congratulations!

Study trip to the US Friday 13 July 2018 16:42
After a long wait the day has finally arrived! On the 6th of July a brave group of 21 students left for a study trip to the United States to visit a diverse collection of companies and institutes along the way. Boston is the destination for the first week and in the second week New York will be visited.

Education bouquet for Gjerrit Meinsma Thursday 5 April 2018 11:36
This morning the Education committee had the honour and pleasure to hand out another bouquet! Dr. Ir. Gjerrit Meinsma was the lucky teacher to receive it. In the past years it was evident that he put lots of effort in his work and his teaching. Many students speak only praises about Gjerrit. Congratulations!
