Study trip to the US Friday 13 July 2018 16:42
After a long wait the day has finally arrived! On the 6th of July a brave group of 21 students left for a study trip to the United States to visit a diverse collection of companies and institutes along the way. Boston is the destination for the first week and in the second week New York will be visited.

Education bouquet for Gjerrit Meinsma Thursday 5 April 2018 11:36
This morning the Education committee had the honour and pleasure to hand out another bouquet! Dr. Ir. Gjerrit Meinsma was the lucky teacher to receive it. In the past years it was evident that he put lots of effort in his work and his teaching. Many students speak only praises about Gjerrit. Congratulations!
Master Applied Mathematics is a top program! Friday 9 March 2018 11:51
On Thursday 8 March the 'Keuzegids Hoger Onderwijs’ was published. The result for our Master’s program in Applied Mathematics is very good: 84 points out of 100. This qualifies AM as a national Topopleiding.
This will be celebrate with drinks and bites on Friday 9 March at 15:00 in the Smart XP lab, together with the AM staff.
Marc Uetz is the winner of AMEP 2018! Friday 9 February 2018 16:19
Today the AMEP (Applied Mathematics Educational Prize) took place and we are happy to announce Marc Uetz as the great winner! Congratulations! He will join the competition for being the best teacher of the university, the UTEA (University of Twente Education Award). Wish him luck!

On Monday November 27th three AM students were the proud recipients of the Young Talent Awards of the Royal Dutch Society of Sciences (Koninklijke Hollandsche Maatschappij der Wetenschappen): Sven Dummer (AM), Cathy Schmit (TCS+AM), and Tim Kokkeler (AP+AM).
New Bachelor coordinator Tuesday 5 December 2017 12:00
To our regret Stefanie has decided to leave the UT. During her maternity leave her duties were taken care of in a very professional and yet very pleasant way by Jitske. Jitske has a new position as exchange officer. On behalf of the Educational Management Team I thank Jitske for her efforts and wish her lots of success in her new position.
In the mean time we have been very lucky to find a new bachelor coordinator: Yael Veenstra Konzizky. Below Yael introduces herself. We warmly welcome her and wish her lots of success with her new duties. Starting in the middle of the academic year will at times be not so easy.
Introduction - Shalom everyone, excited to be here!
My name Is Yael Veenstra Konzizky and I am the ‘new’ Bachelor coordinator in Applied Mathematics for the coming 3 months. I am replacing Jitske Rijken, hoping to be of great use as she was.
I’m originally from sunny Tel Aviv and 10 years ago I came to the Netherlands following my heart. Until now I have been busy with settling in and raising a family and now I am ready to be back at my favorite place – an International sophisticated environment.
My academic background (Bachelor) is in Chemistry (extended physics) and I have always been fascinated in technology, computers, science, theories, equations and numbers.
I’ll be happy to be of any help for students and teachers and to become an active productive part of the team.

Baby news! Friday 9 June 2017 11:48
We are excited to announce that an Abacus baby is born! Matthias Schlottbom, the candidate-general adjunct has become father on the 2nd of June of his beautiful daughter Carlotta. His wife and kids are doing great. We wish them lots of love and happiness in their family.
