Specialisations

Master Specialisations

The educational profile of the masters's programme is characterised on the one hand by the specialisations within the programme and on the other hand by the attention paid to mathematical modelling. The three specialisations are based on the corresponding fields of research of the Department of Applied Mathematis:

  • Mathematical Analysis, Geometry, Numerics and Systems (MAGNUS)
  • Mathematics of Operations Research (MOR)
  • Mathematics of Data Science & AI (MDS&AI)

Each specialisation has teachers who can be contacted for questions and such about their respective specialisation.

  • MAGNUS: Christoph Brune, Bernard Geurts, Matthias Schlottbom, Felix Schwenninger & Anton Stoorvogel
  • MOR: Richard Boucherie & Marc Uetz
  • MDS&AI: Christoph Brune & Rianne de Heide

Chairs

The department of Applied Mathematics is furthermore divided in different chairs that focus their research and education on specific topics. These chairs are linked to the aforementioned specialisations, but some chairs match with multiple specialisations, and vice versa. The department of Applied Mathematics consists of the following chairs, with respective chair holders:
