About Fleur van Alphen

Fleur van Alphen

Hi there,

My name is Fleur van Alphen, and at the moment I am the officer external affairs of this beautiful association. Below, I will tell you who I am and how I ended up here.

The 4th of august 1998, I was born in Zoetermeer. I do not have many memories of this city, since I soon moved to Kampen, and afterwards to Bant. Here I grew up, have I made my first good friends, have I learned to cycle and to ice skate, and have I discovered how munch I love walking and playing in a forest. This hobby was nice, since I lived nearby a forest.

My love for animals also came up here; I often played outside with our dogs, in the evening I often stroked our cat while lying on my lap and after supper I was always allowed to feed the remaining vegetables to our chickens and rabbits. But my favorite animal was definitely a dolphin, my room was full of dolphin posters and wallpaper, and stuffed dolphins were not lacking in my bed either.

Meanwhile, I often changed between sports. First I did two years of gymnastics, then a few months volleyball, a month hockey and a month badminton. In the end I had found my favorite sport: swimming. I could enjoy the silence around me while feeling weightless in the water.

In addition, I of course could be found in school  a big part of the time. Soon I realized that math and nature were very nice, but that language and  comprehensing reading was a tragedy. This remained, and in high school mathematics and biology (and sports) were definitely my favorite subjects.

After 6 years in secondary school, I had to choose a follow-up study. I had a lot of doubts between biology and mathematics, but after the advice from my biology teacher that you could not really find a job in biology, Applied Mathematics in Twente had finally won.

And here I am, at the University of Twente, enjoying my life as a student as much as possible.

I think you've heard enough about me now, but would you really like to know more about me, please contact me! You might have to search, because I often work behind the cupboard in the Abacus room.

PS. If you feel like there are too many language mistakes in this piece, feel free to send a corrected version to me by email!
