The first Olympic Games took place in Olympia in the year 776 before Christ. It only featured a running competition over 190 meters. In the subsequent years, more and more sports were added to the games, including pankration.
Pankration is a combination of boxing and wrestling, that had only a few rules. It was forbidden to wear objects or clothes on the body, to use teeth and nails or to pluck someone’s eyes out. De loser of the game was the person that went knock-out or gave up. Besides that, if a sportsman would die during the game, he got the honour of the victory.
During the Lustrum Olympic Games, we will play a refined version of pankration, using great wrestling suits! Also, we’ll play some other games. Don’t worry, you won’t get too sweaty! But of course, you are allowed to put on your beautiful Lustrum jogging pants. Just as the real Olympics, we will end with a nice award ceremony.
