Education committee

Compared to other committees the Education committee organizes a little more serious activities. Together with the Officer Educational Affairs they organize multiple activities per quartile.

Three to four times a year there is a Mathematical Lounge where a teacher, PhD or student will present some research or a fun bit of mathematics. This is often spiced up by collaberating with another study to have a so-called Scientific Lounge, or by hosting the MC Old School, where Master students and PhD candidates are invited to give a casual talk during a drink.

If there is a teacher who is becoming a professor, then there will be a Bolletje Prof. Sometimes there is a teacher from whom the student would like to know more. That teacher is then interviewed during a Researcher Researched. This happens twice a year, and traditionally the General Adjunct is asked for one of these interviews.

Once a year the Education committee organizes the Education Week. During that week they organize all kinds of education related activities, such as a Mathematical Lounge+ with the chairman, the Applied Mathematics Education Award,  an Education drink and a special Education activity.

The Education committee meets once every two weeks. It’s an informal committee, so most of the time the meetings are a lot of fun. When you’re part of the Education committee you’ll be communicating with teachers and organizing and planning educational activities and lectures. If you are interested, you are always welcome to join one of the meetings!
