Miriam Morshuis-Siers & Sanne Oude Veldhuis - BexerHamstra

Miriam Morshuis

My name is Miriam Morshuis. I completed my Applied Mathematics Master's (then called Toegepaste Wiskunde) in 2000 with a major in Systems & Control Theory (now Mathematical Systems Theory, Applied Analysis and Computational Science). Then - more or less by chance - I got into pension consultancy. I liked it so much that I am still working in that field. In addition to my work, I completed the Actuary AG course.

I have been working as a consultant at BexerHamstra since September 2020. I advise employers with regard to their pension schemes, for example as pension legislation changes dramatically in the coming years. I also advise companies on other terms and conditions of employment. In particular, the variation in my work still appeals to me. Besides the analytical skills required when making calculations, your communication skills, among other things, are called upon. For example, you get to deal with negotiations with trade unions or works councils, and with explaining pension schemes to a company's employees. Since last year, I have added a nice task as team leader of the pension colleagues within BexerHamstra.

Sanne Oude Veldhuis

I am Sanne Oude Veldhuis. I completed my master's degree in Applied Mathematics in April 2024 in Operations Research. Since September 2024, I have been working at BexerHamstra as a pension consultant. I analyse pension schemes, help companies design new arrangements by making calculations and presenting the results, and help them implement the plans.

There are colleagues from different backgrounds working at BexerHamstra with whom I collaborate, including econometricians and mathematicians. It is a young and enthusiastic company, which wants input and opinions from all employees. Here, they look at where my interests lie and match them as closely as possible to my work.

In my daily work, I mainly do analyses and calculations in Excel, make presentations or have contact with customers or executives. Especially critical and logical thinking emerge a lot, but the business and people mindset also plays a big role. Understandably communicating complex information is an important part of my work.

BexerHamstra

BexerHamstra was founded in 2020 as a small HR consultancy. Over the past five years, we have rapidly grown to an agency with 40 colleagues. BexerHamstra's consultants have different backgrounds and areas of expertise. For example: pension and data analytics, compensation & benefits, organisational design, job evaluation and organisational change. This allows us to support organisations with broad and complex HR transformations. Clients expect us to think ahead and think critically with them in search of the best solutions.

Since last year, BexerHamstra has been part of Highberg, a consultancy agency with around 450 consultants in the Netherlands, with offices in Amsterdam and Utrecht, among others. Highberg offers transformation consultancy focusing on organisational, digital and sustainability changes. Created from the merger of several boutique consulting firms, Highberg combines specialised expertise to deliver organisational change.
