Ronald Buitenhek

My name is Ronald Buitenhek. In the last 20 years, I have worked at ORTEC. My current role is analytics business consultant, and currently I spend most of my working time at the Nederlandse Spoorwegen. 
In the past 20 years, I have worked in several different roles and at many different customers. The challenges at the different customers have all been very different and in different fields. For example: supply chain optimization, cost estimation, insurance. Common ground of all roles has been the quantitative and models-related nature of either my work or the work of the people I was managing.
Before I joined ORTEC in 2005, I worked at KPN Research for 7 years. Before that I studied Applied Mathematics (Operations Research) and completed a PhD at the University of Twente.

ORTEC’s products result in optimized fleet routing and dispatch, vehicle and pallet loading, workforce scheduling, delivery forecasting, logistics network planning and warehouse control. 

Besides our products we offer tailor-made solutions for our customers. We are experienced in areas such as: predictive maintenance and asset management, operations and supply chain analytics (i.e. sales and operations planning/optimization), HR & customer Analytics (i.e. dynamic pricing, revenue management, chatbots).

Working at ORTEC
Since our founding in 1981, we have grown to employ over 1000 people at locations in Europe, the United States, Australia and Brazil. Most of our employees began working with us after completing their studies. The company’s organizational structure is flat, with short lines of communication. The atmosphere is open and informal, which forms an excellent basis for a productive working environment.

Students and starters
We are always looking for ambitious students/starters who have affinity with IT, optimization, data science and analytics. As a student you can do a (graduation) internship. As a junior you can, for instance, do a traineeship in software engineering or data science & consultancy.
