Douwe Hut

My name is Douwe Hut and in 2020 I graduated from the Operations Research track of Applied Mathematics. This means that already for 4 years, I have worked at InControl Enterprise Dynamics as Simulation Engineer. 

I’m part of the Crowd Simulation team, where we develop simulation models and applications of, for example, new stadiums, train stations, museums and urban environments. I like it to be involved in the entire project, from the first scoping conversations with the client, via building and validating the model, to the analysis and presentation of the results. 

Since a few months, I’m also working for the Rail Simulation team, where we develop the rail simulation software that ProRail and NS use to improve the processes on the railroads in terms of efficiency and safety. Many future innovations are included, like automatic train operation, and the future European safety system ERTMS.

In my job, the study programme comes in handy mostly when scripting and programming. But also when new concepts need to be worked out and built in. Furthermore, knowledge and feeling of statistics and simulation is always useful!

As you see, at InControl we perform meaningful work that is also technically challenging. We are a relatively small but growing company, with a lot of smart and nice colleagues.
