Tanja Hardt:

Consultant traffic forecasting at Goudappel.

In my daily work I am developing traffic models for different areas to predict the traffic behaviour in future circumstances and the resulting effects of different policies. For a long time gravity-based models where the most widely used form of traffic model for policy-decisions. A few years ago, due to more complex travel behaviour, Goudappel decided to develop a new form of model, a tour-based microsimulation model, where the travel decisions are based on individual characteristics and circumstances. Developing a whole new modelling system requires a lot of research, innovative ideas and special knowledge, but seeing a working system with a lot of benefits coming to life is a great reward for all the effort. 

During my master I did the specialisation Operations Research with some courses in the field of Traffic Engineering. In my daily work I am still busy with optimizations and decision modelling, but I also do a lot of coding while working on the new modelling system. 

Bernike Rijksen:

Consultant at Dat.mobility.

In my daily work I’m (further) developing traffic models and tools, such that we are able to model innovations and changes in the mobility domain. We developed for example a tour based micromodel, with which we can model individuals and ther tripchains (I worked on this model together with Tanja). Furthermore I contribute a lot to innovation projects and I like to do data analysis on big datasets. I really enjoy working at Goudappel because the group of colleagues is very diverse. There are many different (study) backgrounds here, so we collectively have a lot of knowledge and we can learn from each other. 

I did a bachelor’s degree in Architecture and a master in Applied Mathematics. During my master I did the specialisation Discrete Mathematics and Mathematical Programming. I can put both my creativity and my mathimatical background to good use at Goudappel.
